The HDSB has undertaken a review of the boundaries for all elementary schools in Ward 4. A Steering Committee, made up of board members and trustees, had been set up in December and now have requested for 2 representatives from each school to form a Boundary Review Committee (BRC). Representing Ecole Forest Trail PS will be Sarah Ecclestone and Sharon McDowell. As well, we have a strong "support committee" assisting our representatives.
Our website will be updated with new information as it is available so please check back often. There will be a public information meeting at Abbey Park High School on Monday, February 13th 7-9 p.m. where the BRC will present possible scenarios and get public feedback.
In the event that buses are cancelled due to inclement weather, Tasty Tuesday and Lunch Lady Meals will also be cancelled.

Our momentum is continuing strongly and council is involved in several initiatives. As well, we continue to support the school financially with the approval of funds for the purchase of literacy material, presentations for the students, equipment for the musical theatre production and more.

Thank you to everyone who supports our Campbell's Soup Labels for Education fundraiser. Last year we earned enough points to get goalie equipment and a broom ball set. Please keep those labels coming! When sending in tetra packs (ie. from soup broth), you need only to cut out the UPC code and send that in. We ask that you give it a quick rinse first.
In our ongoing effort to ensure we are communicating to the entire community, here is this month's Q & A regarding the proposed playground structure.
Q. How often will my child get to use the Playground?
A. The use of the playground structure will be decided by our school's administration. The proposed structure can accommodate up to 65 children at one time but it is up to the principal to decide the supervision schedule. However, the structure is not only to be used at recess. The aim is for it to be used throughout the day for gym, QDF (Quality Daily Fitness), or as an outdoor classroom.
Please visit the website for information including an artist's conception of the design, FAQ, past Q&As from the eNewsletter, and our fundraising tally.

School Administration held their second coffee chat January 18th. Parents came together to continue their discussion regarding “Helping your children Succeed – uncovering their assets and talents”. Handouts from that workshop are now available on the school website, under Parent Resources/Coffee Chat/January.
The next coffee chat is scheduled for Thursday, February 23rd, at 9:30 am in the library. The topic for this month’s chat is: Kids and Stress – how to help.
Come chat with Cynthia Stokl, Halton Region’s Mental Health Liaison Nurse about anxiety and stress in today’s changing world and strategies to help children cope.

École Forest Trail is hosting our annual “Winter Carnaval” modeled after the Quebec Winter Carnival celebrating French culture. The Quebec Carnival is the largest winter carnival in the world - a northern version of the Mardi Gras Carnival in Louisiana.
All students are actively involved in the celebration. There are grade specific crafts and/or activities assigned to educate our students on the many wonders of the festival. Students in grades 1 - 5 will work on crafts while those in grades 6 - 8 take on more of a leadership role.
There are a lot of volunteer opportunities for Carnaval not only for the actual days of the event, but in the preparation for it.
Please click here to see listing of the various crafts/activities for each grade, and/or the many volunteering opportunities we are looking to fill. If you are able to help out please send an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

This is a great opportunity to get involved in creating a celebration of our ÉFT school community: the students, the staff, and the families.
Get Involved: We are in the planning stages at the moment, and need help in the preparations for this event. If you can help us with ideas, contacts, prizes or by sharing your expertise and time, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
All proceeds from this event will go towards the future playground project and/or the benefit of the students of École Forest Trail.
The February meeting was moved to Tuesday the 14th due to a scheduling conflict with the Boundary Review Public Meeting at Abbey Park H.S. on Monday, February 13th. At our February School Council meeting will be discussing the Boundary Review and also "Our Backyard" with respect to the potential playground, grass and other items that fall into that category.
