Financial Recap 2010/2011

Every year, School Council and Fundraising Committee work hard raising funds for our school, and these initiatives have a positive impact on our activities and programs.   To ensure that all ÉFT parents/guardians are fully informed, we are providing a financial review below. 

 

We started the 2010/2011 school year with a bank balance of $18,000 from the previous year's council.   The Fundraising efforts then raised $46,600.    In addition to this, the Playground Committee raised $9,000 towards the future playground structure.    School Council approved $48,200 expenditures leaving a balance of $16,400 for the 2011/2012 school year. 

 

Here is a breakdown of the 2010/2011 expenses. 

 

Technology - $11,500
(2 x iRover Smartboards; projectors & media carts
Outdoor Classroom - $7,500
Field Trips / Presenters - $8,200
(Scientist in the classroom; cultural dance presentations; puppet shows)
Non-Student Activities - $4,400
(Staff Appreciation; New Fridge for Tasty Tuesday; Council Expenses
Curricular Items: $3,100
(eg. Books for libraries, teacher start-up kits)
Arts - $3,000
(Musical Instruments; Art drying racks)
Extracurricular Activities: $4,500
(Recess bags replenishment, School clubs and teams, Carnaval, Graduation)
Playground Project - $6,000
(These funds were added to the $9,000 raised at the Fun Fair giving the total raised for this project to be $15,000)
 
Thank you to all who participate in our fundraisers.   As you can see, a lot of good has come from it.

We will have a presentation from the Green Team on the merits of an Outdoor Classroom.   The Director of Education's recommendation for the boundary of the new high school, currently under construction in Ward 4, will also be discussed.

One goal of School Council is to improve the technology available to EFT teaching staff. We are pleased to have Bruce Smith, HDSB Superintendent, as a guest presenter. He will share some of the various technological teaching tools available to teachers today and in the future, and provide their pros and cons.
