Tasty Tuesday - New Government Guidelines

Tasty Tuesday - New Government Guidelines

Last year, the Government of Ontario imposed new Nutritional Guidelines that had to come into effect at the beginning of the 2011 / 2012 school year.  The guidelines related to any food / beverages sold to students within our school.   Among other things, these guidelines mandated that we alter the serving size of the Tasty Tuesday Pizza.  We could no longer sell 1/6th of a large pizza as 1 serving.

While Tasty Tuesday is first and foremost a Fundraiser, the Tasty Tuesday coordinators and volunteers are committed to creating a fun environment that financially benefits the school.  Every week, approximately 40 volunteers cheerfully serve over 800 students.  In order to abide by the new Gov't of Ont guidelines AND maintain the intergrity of the fundraiser, it was decided that we would slice the pizza into 8 and keep the price at an even $2.  Please also know that much time and effort was put into sourcing a variety of drinks and dessert options that also meet the guidelines.  And we're not done yet!!  There are still more yummy treats to come!!

As for the benefits of the Tasty Tuesday Fundraiser, last year we raised approximately $35,000 and ALL of it went back to the school!!!

Here is how some of that money was spent:
Outdoor Classroom, 2 x Smartboards for classrooms, 3 x Projectors, Musical Instruments, Sporting and Team equipment, Fieldtrips, Graduation, Recess Bags, Guest Authors and Presenters, Etc, Etc Etc.

Lunches on Fridays Just Got Easier!

EFT Council is very pleased to announce that Lunch Lady will be providing a variety of healthy HOT and COLD lunches at affordable prices to our students on Fridays.

Lunch Lady lunches are designed as Boomerang Lunches which is a concept designed to help reduce the garbage and recycling load at schools. In a bag provided with each lunch, students are encouraged to take the recyclable, compostable and garbage from their Lunch Lady lunch home for proper sorting (e.g., foil and plastic containers, compostable, utensils).

Note:  Please make your child aware of the health risks involved when eating leftover foods that have not been kept cold throughout the day.

Paper orders can be returned to the school or parents can order on-line at www.lunchlady.ca

Tasty Tuesday Begins October 11th

Tasty Tuesdays / Miam Mardi starts October 11th!
