Parents Engaging Parents (PEP)

PEP

Forest Trail’s Parent Engaging Parents Committee (PEP) seeks to support, encourage and enhance parent engagement at the school level in order to improve student achievement and well-being. PEP serves an integral role within the FT School Council by providing parents with the opportunity to voice their concerns, ideas and challenges while promoting further parent involvement through events.
 

Key Initiatives:
 

  • To support, encourage, and enhance meaningful parental involvement within FT school including outreach to parents who find involvement more challenging due to language, recent immigration, newness to the system, or other factors;
     

  • To work collaboratively with FT school administration and ensure linkages between parents, school administrators and teachers are maintained;
     

  • To develop strategies for enhancing parental engagement and outreach including organizing parent awareness and education night and provide resources; and
     

  • To attend meetings and to engage in inter-school communications and activities.​

Fundraising & Events

The mission of the fundraising committee is to organize and execute events / activities throughout the school year in order to raise funds for enriching the learning experience of all Forest Trail Public School students.

Safety and Well-being

Safety

The safety and well-being of our students is very important for School Council.  Throughout the year, we work in conjunction with the school to bring important programs and information to both parents and students.

  • Addressing safety concerns in conjunction with the school's safety and well-being committee

  • Focus on leadership skills and self-confidence

  • Anti-bullying awareness

  • Promoting nutrition and healthy lifestyle

  • Supporting the school's Eco/Green Team's efforts

Our mission is to foster the community spirit of FT by improving and enhancing the quality of life for all human beings. Our commitment is to make a difference in the lives of others through acts of kindness. Our committee is based on voluntary actions for the common good, fostering a tradition of giving and sharing which allows us the opportunity to give back to our community.
